Jake Harpster



Jake Harpster currently holds the position of Percussionist/Assistant Principal Timpanist for The United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own” in Washington, D.C.   He teaches percussion at McLean High School in McLean, Virgina, and serves as the Director of Percussion for The Capitol Symphonic Youth Orchestras.  

To prepare his Percussion Ensemble during this pandemic, Jake is contacting band directors to arrange for instrument pick-ups at their schools for TCSYO percussion members. If all else fails―Jake’s backup plan is to teach via the “What-Ever-You-Have-In-Your-Home” method to prepare his Percussion Ensemble for their first performance. Here is an example of what you might be doing.
